The Lusty Lady was the first unionized strip joint where the women involved organized a cast of strictly women workers to run the cooperative. This woman-run and managed club represented all sorts of body types and styles. The noncompetitive environment set the tone for great camaraderie and solidarity. Despite the stigma surrounding sex work, many employees happily participated in the movement, and many others supported it from the sidelines. It was a collaborative effort that solidified a powerful statement of feminism in the sex work industry. Many workers saw the Lusty Lady as a beacon of unity and acceptance.  It challenged a system that has historically oppressed and exploited women by raising the awareness of organization among sex workers and adult entertainers. The Lusty Lady became a loving environment where strong-willed women uplifted one another. Above all else, the Lusty Lady sought to redefine sex work and change society’s perspective on adult entertainment.
